Michigan Health & Hospital Association among broad bipartisan coalition raising concerns about Con-Con

LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA) today announced its opposition to a Constitutional Convention (Con-Con), joining a range of organizations and advocacy groups representing a wide spectrum of interests working together to urge Michiganders to vote NO on Proposal 1 on the Tuesday, Nov. 3 ballot.

The MHA is the statewide advocate for community hospitals and health systems, advancing policies that support high-quality, affordable, and accessible care.

“Our healthcare system depends on stability, thoughtful policymaking and a constitution that has served Michigan well for decades,” said MHA CEO Brian Peters. “A Constitutional Convention could put critical protections and public priorities at risk. Our organization is among many others that believe our state is best served with the existing amendment process, which allows for targeted changes when needed.”

The MHA is working alongside Protect MI Constitution from Special Interests (PMCFSI) to encourage Michiganders to vote NO on Proposal 1, which asks whether to call a Constitutional Convention. The measure appears on the ballot every 16 years and, if approved, would open the Michigan Constitution to a complete rewrite.
