Americans for Prosperity-Michigan warns of Con-Con dangers to economy, urges NO vote on Proposal 1
The conservative, free market advocacy group Americans for Prosperity-Michigan (AFP-MI) is urging Michiganders to vote NO on Proposal 1 on the Tuesday, Nov. 3, ballot. The group is among a growing number of organizations warning of the dangers of a Constitutional Convention (Con-Con).
AFP-MI is warning Michiganders that opening the Michigan Constitution to a total rewrite in a Con-Con would create economic uncertainty.
“A Con-Con would create chaos and uncertainty for Michigan entrepreneurs and small business owners who need stability to plan for future growth,” said Tim Golding, AFP-MI state director. “A Constitutional Convention would inject chaos into our state's economy, making it harder for businesses to invest, hire and grow. Michigan must be focused on creating opportunities and expanding prosperity. We cannot afford the uncertainty of Proposal 1.”
AFP-MI is working with Protect MI Constitution from Special Interests (PMCFSI) and a broad range of advocacy organizations to highlight the well-established constitutional amendment process that allows voters to consider issues individually rather than reopening the entire document. AFP-MI is focused on efforts to limit government overreach, reduce taxes and limit regulations. The Michigan chapter says it has successfully mobilized thousands of activists statewide to hold elected officials accountable and champion economic freedom.
