Citizens for Traditional Values among broad bipartisan lineup of groups to warn about dangers of a Con-Con

LANSING, Mich. – Citizens for Traditional Values (CTV) today announced its opposition to a Constitutional Convention (Con-Con), joining a bipartisan group of organizations across the state working together to urge a vote NO on Proposal 1 on the Nov. 3 ballot.

Citizens for Traditional Values is working with Protect MI Constitution from Special Interests (PMCFSI) to encourage Michiganders to vote NO on calling a Constitutional Convention. The question appears on the ballot every 16 years and asks voters whether to call a Con-Con, which would open the state constitution to a total rewrite.

“Opening the door to a Con-Con would create chaos and confusion about our state’s governing document,” said Eileen McNeil, president of Citizens for Traditional Values. “Too much is at risk for Michigan families by allowing for a total rewrite of the Michigan Constitution in a Con-Con.”

Michigan already has a tried and tested process to make smart, targeted amendments to the state constitution that puts voters in charge, McNeil said.
