Jackson and Battle Creek Chambers join coalition urging NO vote on Constitutional Convention

LANSING, Mich. – The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and the Battle Creek Area Chamber of Commerce today announced their opposition to a Constitutional Convention (Con-Con), joining a growing coalition of organizations urging a NO vote on Proposal 1 on the Nov. 3 ballot.

Representing a cross section of businesses in south and mid-Michigan, the Jackson and Battle Creek chambers are among several other chambers working with Protect MI Constitution from Special Interests (PMCFSI) to encourage a NO vote on Proposal 1, which will ask Michiganders whether to call a Con-Con. The coalition is highlighting the dangers of opening the state constitution to a rewrite that could hurt Michigan’s economy and discourage investment.

The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce represents nearly 700 businesses and nonprofit organizations in the Jackson area, serving as the leading driver and advocate for dynamic business and economic development in the area.

A Constitutional Convention would introduce unnecessary confusion and risk undercutting the positive momentum seen in our region and so many others around the state. The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce is proud to join organizations across Michigan in encouraging voters to vote NO on a Constitutional Convention.”

The Battle Creek Area Chamber of Commerce represents more than 600 member businesses, helping to connect local businesses with resources, advocacy and community opportunities to support economic growth and mutual prosperity.
